Vow

Privacy Policy

Last updated November 3, 2026

Vow doesn't collect anything about you. No analytics, no tracking, no account. It goes online for two things only: checking for updates, and checking your license key.

What Vow does not do

The only two times Vow goes online

1. Checking for updates. Vow asks a file hosted on GitHub whether a newer version exists. As with any web request, GitHub can see your IP address and the app's name and version. Vow doesn't send a profile of your Mac. Updates are checked about once a day, and each one is verified with a cryptographic signature before it installs.

2. Checking your license key. When you enter a key, Vow sends it to Gumroad, where you bought Vow, to confirm it is valid. Gumroad also counts how many times a key is used, which is how license activation for your personal Macs works. Vow never does this while an offline session is running.

What stays on your Mac

Uninstalling Vow removes the helper. Its Help menu has the steps.

Buying Vow

Payment is handled entirely by Gumroad. We never see your card details. Gumroad shares your email and purchase details with us so we can give support. Their privacy policy applies to the purchase: gumroad.com/privacy.

This website

This site has no analytics and sets no cookies. Clicking Buy opens Gumroad's checkout, which is run by Gumroad. The free trial download is hosted on GitHub.

Children’s Privacy

Vow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top will change with it. Vow collecting more data is not something we plan to do.
